I met with Pauline Brettell recently. A fellow South African now sharing her time between the Cape, London and Tangier. It's been a long time since I was in the bustling port of Tangier. So close to Spain yet deeply North African. A heady place full of noise, industrious behaviour and creativity. Pauline is a mine field of information. Her creative streak has taken her places I only go in my dreams.
Her website is aptly named Tea In Tangier. Pauline's eyes light up when she talks about all the 'makers' she has met. She just loves discovering new products and designs.
One of her particular passions are the Beni Ourian carpets pictured below.
Handmade by the Berber Tribes of the Atlas Mountains these rugs were traditionally used as bedding. Each one is unique. The interiors world have fallen for their simple geometric diamond designs. They are super practical and can blend in anywhere.
I could not resist buying this yellow and grey tufted throw from her. It adds something unique to the bed and hugely practical in it's lightweight nature, perfect for a summer bedroom look.

When it comes to bathrooms I am a little partial to using Moroccan tiles. Pauline has access to very talented and spirited tile makers. Together we can fashion up a look for your walls, floors and spash-backs.
