Mother Nature in all her glory is the source of inspiration for so many of our fabrics. The Aloe plant takes on many guises out in the wild. I love the tough cactus like spiky leaves and their long tubular flowers. We have a small version growing at home, sadly without its flowers, but it proves useful on those days when someone accidentally cuts or burns themselves. The sap is natures healing balm.
I digress… back to the fabric. We actually have a fabric called Aloe. It’s a clever vertical repeat that can be very effective on curtains and blinds. It’s available by the meter in various colour ways.
A client fell in love with it and decided to have her own bespoke coloured printed. She opted for gunmetal on lime to cover her much loved, very comfortable, yet formal drab looking sofa. It is now a textile delight. Gunmetal aloes printed on citrus coloured cotton. The fabric was designed by South African fabric house Design Team Fabrics. Upholstered in England. Delivered last week to a very happy client in London.
